Wired for Success® is
a free training for parents, caregivers and interested
community members. It is offered in two parts.
The first part of Wired for Success® is a one-hour introduction to infant brain development. This workshop is fun-filled, with hands-on experiences that show caregivers how critical their role can be in stimulating a child’s development. Participation in this one-hour introductory workshop is not required prior to attending a four-hour Wired for Success® workshop, but provides an introduction and overview of the material that will be covered in part two.
The second part of Wired for Success® is a free four-hour workshop that explores brain development with a special focus on Security, Touch, Eyes (vision), Play, and Sound, the five key components of New Directions Institute’s S.T.E.P.S. Program. This workshop addresses new cutting-edge developments in neuroscience and presents practical methods for stimulating healthy early brain development in children. Reinforced by interactive experiences and video clips, the information and activities learned in this workshop will help parents and caregivers provide positive adult-child interactions to help the children in their lives succeed.

"This (workshop) is especially good for parents without a teaching background. It was very well organized. I think it's a good approach to give parents time to try things out."
- Mother of two, 17 and 29 months
“This program provided me with specific information related to brain development that I can apply in daily activities.”
- Mother of a 3 year old
“I view my time with the children differently (after this workshop). I am more aware of what I can be doing that will help the child learn and grow. While feeding them I am thinking of something I can be doing that will help the child learn.”
- Childcare Worker
